Jackie’s Biography

A true artist, Ms. Mazur skillfully incorporates the personality and inner beauty of her clients in the unique environments she creates. By approaching each assignment as a one-of-a-kind opportunity, she transforms the homes of celebrities and entertainment executives into distinctive reflections of their individual style and artistic vision.

Born in New York City, Jackie developed a love of art, fashion and design at an early age.

“My grandparents were in the furniture business. When I was five years old I posed as a mannequin in their storefront displays,” Jackie recalls. “This was my first experience at ‘selling a look.”‘

After attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she opened a trend-setting boutique, becoming an arbiter of taste among the city’s elite at only nineteen years of age. At the height of the store’s success, she closed her business to relocate to Los Angeles with her husband, who was managing music legend, Billy Joel.

Once settled, her passion for interior décor prompted her to establish Jackie Mazur Designs. Jackie’s reputation spread quickly in Hollywood circles and she became recognized as one of the West Coast’s leading independent interior designers.

“Although my projects take me all over the world, I love working in Los Angeles. Hollywood is a city with great personality, which encourages truly outrageous design projects. Having larger than-life clients with varied tastes keeps me constantly stimulated.”

Throughout her career Jackie has traveled the world in search of extravagant collectibles and art treasures for her clients.

“You could call me a modern-day patron of the arts,” she says. “Celebrities have a passion for mixing the richness of old world themes with contemporary designs. During my travels I’ve discovered a wealth of European artisans who have the master’s touch.”

Jackie is equally skilled at office and commercial design, and finds that many of her clients request office makeovers after she’s remodeled their homes.

“I like to bring a residential flair into designing an executive suite,” she states. “It softens the atmosphere and often aids in business negotiations, but the initial impact must always be visually impressive — a delicate balancing act.”
